Ok so I finally listened to the Best Coast’s entire debut album Crazy For You, which just leaked a few days ago and came out officially today.
The verdict: It’s fucking awesome. Seriously, like go kill yourself if you haven’t listened to it yet good.
This will be on repeat on my ipod for the rest of the summer.
The whole album is very cohesive both thematically and musically. It’s a very summery beachy lo-fi alt pop album all about love and heartbreak. Bethany’s vocals remind me a bit of She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel or even Beach House, but with a little more of a bite. They are hauntingly understated and the lyrics are very simple, which is what makes this album great. It’s just plain catchy, easy to listen to, alt pop music.
I think it’s gonna be the album of the summer. Go listen to it. Now.
